St. Stephen’s Episcopal Church – Whiting, NJ Hosting 3rd Annual Over/Under Handicap Doubles Tournament At Playdrome Lanes – Toms River, NJ

A maximum of 36 doubles teams, consisting of one bowler over and one bowler under the age of 50 can compete. It is a USBC sanctioned event. Both bowlers must have an established average from one of the past two seasons or an established average from this season for 45 games as of 4/1/2019.

Participants will bowl a 5-game qualifying block with six teams advancing to a stepladder format, one-game single elimination roll-off. The top qualifying team is automatically seeded to the final match. Handicap is 100% of the difference of the individual’s highest sanctioned average and a scratch figure of 230.

The entry fee is $100 per doubles team or $50 per bowler. Prize fund will be returned 100%. A portion of the entry fee will benefit St. Stephen’s Episcopal Church. Optional high game brackets and eliminator side action will be available. The top prize is $1000 based on 36 paid team entries.

Send in your entries as soon as possible! Total entries are limited to 36 teams. Entries close on Sunday, April 21, 2019 or when a maximum of 36 teams are entered and paid.

  • The members of the Order of St. Luke will be available for prayers of healing after you receive Holy Communion today. They will be standing on both sides of the altar rail for you.

  • The Bowling Ministry will host the King of the Hill Tournament tonight at 6:30pm, at Playdrome Lanes-Toms River. All are invited to come out and support this action-packed Parish event!

  • The World Day of Prayer is this Friday, March 1st, at 2pm here at St. Stephen's. Please join us in the celebratory day of prayer! Please see Stefanie Rotsaert for further information.

  • The Diocese of New Jersey's Annual Convention is this Saturday, March 2nd. All Convention Delegates are required to attend. Please see Father Paul. The Diocesan website also has additional Convention information.

  • There will be a Memorial Service for Douglas Fink on Sunday, March 3rd, at 1pm, here at St. Stephen's.

  • The Shrove Tuesday Pancake Breakfast is coming up on Tuesday, March 5th, from 4-6pm in the Parish Hall. The event, offered by the Men's Club, is free for everyone to enjoy fun and fellowship. Sign up sheets are available in the Narthex. Please see Al Thompson.

  • Tickets are available for the upcoming Men's Club's Corned Beef & Cabbage Dinner, to be held on Saturday, March 9th, at 3pm in the Parish Hall. Tickets are $15 for Adults & $7 for Children 12 years of age and under. Please see Al Thompson.

  • The Lenten Discipleship Study begins on Monday, March 11th, and every Monday with study times of 1pm & 5:30pm. The study will run thru the middle of April. Sign up sheets are now available in the Narthex. Please see Father Paul for further information.

  • The Thyroid Support Group will meet on Monday morning, February 18th, at 10am in the Coffee Room.

  • There will be a Men's Club Meeting this Wednesday afternoon, February 20th, at 1pm in the Coffee Room.

  • The Bowling Ministry will host Parish Open Bowling on Saturday, February 23rd, from 5:30-7:30pm, at Playdrome Lanes-Toms River. The cost is $10 per person with shoes included. The King of the Hill Tournament is on Sunday, February 24th at 6:30pm. Please see Bill Bodine for further information.

  • Next Sunday, February 24th, Father Paul will celebrate 30 years since being ordained to the Priesthood! We would like to congratulate and thank Father for his service and dedication to the Parish and Ministry, and we invite all parishioners and friends to come to Church next Sunday in support of Father Paul as we will honor him after both Services!   • This week the Parish Office is open Monday thru Thursday from 9am-2pm.

  • On Wednesday, February 6th, there will be a Convocation Meeting at Holy Trinity Church in Ocean City, NJ, from 7-9pm. Father Paul will attend the Clergy Meeting from 3-5pm. All Convocation Representatives should attend the meeting, and all Vestry members and Convention Delegates are encouraged to attend as well.
